Enjoy The Cold While It Lasts
Notes Poem #2
Enjoy the cold while it lasts
and it freezes your feet to the ground
Before the feeling fades away
and gives in to the flames
Licking up your ankles
and swallowing your body whole
in their tempting iridescent glow
as they rise from beneath the surface
of the steadfast, cracking ice
I wonder if they mean you harm at all.
thank you for reading! this is part two of a new series I am starting entitled “Notes Poems”. I have a bad habit of writing poems in the notes on my phone when I first think of them, and leave them there for months or to never be seen. I’m challenging myself to post them instead, whether I think they have meaning or make any sense at all — because what is writing if not creative experimentation?
